Long Author Bio (468 words)

When IA Mullin graduated high school, she gave a speech about following your dreams. She was adamant that if you want it bad enough and work hard enough, then you can achieve your goals. Her dream was to go to college, become a veterinarian or a veterinary technician, meet the right guy, have a family, and help animals the rest of her life. She went to Colorado State University, met her totally amazing other half and married him. In 2005, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Zoology. Then life happened. She was not accepted into vet school or a master's program. Ok, that's alright, she just needed experience and then could try again. She enrolled at Front Range Community College. Earned her Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology and passed the exams to become a Certified Vet Tech. She has worked in various vet offices and related businesses. After graduating again, she was hired at a local vet clinic. In 2010 she gave birth to her first child. Everything was looking good.

Guess what? Life happened again. It has a way of changing the best laid plans. IA’s boss decided that she was not a good fit for the position after having worked there for four years. She had a six month old baby and some hard choices to make. She could find a new job as a vet tech, go back to school, or lose the dream she had held her whole life. Just so you understand, a vet tech in Colorado does not make enough money to pay for professional child care. IA made the choice to let go of her vet dreams and take care of her family. She became a stay at home mom. And claims it was the best choice she has ever made.

There was also opportunity in her choice to stay home with her children. IA had a secret. She had been writing a book in her spare time ever since her freshman year of high school. Very few people knew what she was working on, not even her parents or family. IA’s husband did know, and he encouraged her with this endeavor. She wrote her first manuscript and began to talk to an editor.  The story was so long, that it had to be divided into three books. In early 2016, IA made a life changing choice to attend a writer conference. She learned that she had a lot to learn about the industry and business of being an author. So she made changes in her plan again. IA took the steps to found Avio Publishing, LLC and became an independent publisher. She had let go of one dream and found a path for another. That is the truth of life. Dreams can change, but they are still worth pursuing.
