Greetings from the Author
Welcome and thank you for checking out my website. I'm sure you are here to learn more about the author. That's me! Let me tell you something important. I AM I.A. Mullin. I am who I am, and nothing anyone says is going to change that. That does not mean that I will not listen to the opinions of others. On the contrary, the opinions of others helps me know who people see me as, and that is just as important to know as who I am in my heart. I learned a long time ago, back in my high school days, that I have to know my heart before others can know me. If I don't know me, then how can other people really know me? The answer is they can't. And if they don't really know me, then the things they say about me are not true. I want you to know me, at least a little, so that you can say true things about me.
When I was graduating high school, I gave a speech about following your dreams. I was adamant that if you want it bad enough and work hard enough, then you can achieve your goals. My dream was to go to college, become a veterinarian or a veterinary technician, meet the right guy, have a family, and help animals the rest of my life. I went to Colorado State University, met my totally amazing other half and married him, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Zoology. Then life happened. I was not accepted into vet school or a master's program. Ok, that's alright, I just needed experience and then I could try again. I enrolled at Front Range Community College. Earned my Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology and passed my exams to become a Certified Vet Tech. I had worked in various vet offices and related businesses. I got hired at a local vet clinic. Gave birth to my first child. Everything was looking good.
Guess what? Life happened again. It has a way of changing the best laid plans. My boss decided that I was not a good fit for the position after having worked there for four years. I had a six month old baby and some hard choices to make. I could find a new job as a vet tech, go back to school, or lose a dream I had held my whole life. Let me tell you a vet tech in Colorado does not make enough money to pay for professional child care. I made the choice to let go of my vet dreams and take care of my family. I became a stay at home mom. And it was the best choice I have ever made. I have raised my two sons in a loving home where they get to see mommy all the time. We have a very strong bond, and I wouldn't go back on that decision, ever.
There was also opportunity in my choice to stay home with my children. I had a secret. I had been writing a book in my spare time ever since my freshman year of high school. Very few people knew what I was working on, not even my parents or family. My husband did know, and he encouraged me with this endeavor. I wrote my manuscript and began to talk to an editor. The story was so long, that I agreed to divide it into three books. In early 2016, I made a life changing choice to attend a writer conference. I learned that I had a lot to learn about the industry and business of being an author. I made changes in my plan again. I took the steps to found Avio Publishing, LLC and became an independent publisher. I had let go of one dream and found a path for another. That is the truth of life. Dreams can change, but they are still worth pursuing.
Now it is up to you, my readers. I have written and will continue to write the best books I can from my love of telling stories and my vivid imagination. I have taken the steps to make those books available to the market and get the word out about them. But the best part of being an author is finding readers who really enjoy sharing my works. I am sharing them with you, and ask you to please share them with others who might also enjoy them.
Thank you, and happy reading!
I.A. Mullin
